Daily Devotion: ‘Let it shine from your face’

There should be something obviously different between those who follow Him and those who do not

WHILE having dinner with several friends, I looked at the faces of people coming into the restaurant. I saw hurting people, sick people, fake people, and lost people. But what did God see? I believe He saw people searching.

Everyone is searching for something, right? But most don’t even know what they’re seeking. And that’s because we live in such a troubled age – a world that offers many substitutes for the peace of God. Power. Control. Alcohol. Drugs. Infidelity. Things easy to find.

People hesitate seeking something more permanent. The pearl of great price? Something that has a lasting effect. The peace of God? And so they wander.

You know, there should be something obviously different between those who follow Him and those who do not. Perhaps the shine on our faces?

As a Christian public servant, I want those I serve – my students – to see the peace of God on my face. I want coworkers to know I have the pearl of great price. By the look on my face, I want all to seek what I’ve found.

At work today, let it shine from your face. The peace of God. The pearl of great price. Share it, and let all know it can be found if they seek it – even in a workplace of great pain and in an economy of tremendous uncertainty.

Today, let it shine from your face and let them seek what you have. They, too, will find it!

Matthew 13:45-46 (KJV) Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls: Who, when he had found one pearl of great price, went and sold all that he had, and bought it.

John 14:27(a) (NKJV) Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you.

Prayer

Dear God, forgive me for not showing Your peace to those whom I serve. Use me today to share the pearl of great price with the hurting and the lost. Give me Your eyes to see where You are working today so I can join You. In the name of Jesus, I pray! Amen.
