DEAR Editor,-
With all the negative publicity they attract, I would like to thank all those (including Jerry the contractor – sorry I did not get his full name) for the timeous and excellent work in repairing a pipe burst ‘under’ our road (at our motor gate). It took them two days to dig up the road in Benjamin Drive, Southport, to repair the pipe, fill all the cavities in the road and tar and complete the job in record time – well done, guys!
It’s a pity that I cannot say the same for the Roads Department – It will be a month next week to fix our road’s potholes. Numerous phone calls – empty promises and excuses. Cut-offs from the call centre, no one available, I was transferred all over – person on leave, etc, etc. No material, workers are not in the area… just promises from 22/09/2016 and still no action. We will see if anything is done. No one works on a Friday down here, but hopefully soon.
Thumbs up to Ugu. They are doing excellent, speedy service delivery and their call centre was very efficient and helpful – a major change, compared to reports in the SC Herald.
WAITING PATIENTLY

SIMON APRIL RESPONDS:
DEAR Editor,-
There was a bit of a challenge in the finalisation of the tender for pothole repairs. That challenge has since been overcome and it is expected that by the beginning of November, contractors will be on the ground for pothole repairs. The Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has an effective Customer Care Centre which can be reached through 039 6882027 and I am not sure if the said reader or community member directed the complaints to that number during working hours.
