Five WTH moments of the week

Ever scrolled past a post on social media and gone ‘what the hell!’ and sat there dumbfounded? SHONA AYLWARD shares her list of world-gone-mad moments from the past week.

Number 1

915 coins removed from the stomach of a turtle in Thailand

Poor, poor Bank the turtle!

A 25-year-old female sea turtle called Omsin, nicknamed Bank, spent years swallowing the money thrown into a pool in a park in Thailand by tourists.

According to Sky News, the array of currencies eventually formed a heavy ball in her belly weighing five kilograms and eventually cracked her shell, causing a life-threatening infection.

The public rallied to raise around 15,000 baht (£347) in donations to pay for the surgery.

Omsin has been put on a liquid diet while she recovers at the university’s animal hospital.

Happy ending to what could have been a very sad a story.

Now, please don’t throw a coin into a fountain thinking it will bring you good luck!

Turkeys circling a dead cat caught on video

A strange sighting indeed, turkeys doing a ritual dance around a dead cat.

What next? This world is undoubtedly a strange and wonderful place.

According to the website: www.cbs5az.com, Dave Scarpitti, a wildlife biologist at the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife, suspects the turkeys were sizing up the threat of the cat and had no intention of making a meal out of it. He says turkeys prefer bird seed and vegetation.

It would have been funny if the cat suddenly came back to life for the 10th time!

Sharks ask diver to help pull a 12 inch knife out of its head

What a remarkable story with a happy ending.

Ben Johnson was diving with a group of tourists in waters off Cayman Brac in the Cayman Islands when he spotted a three-foot long shark was swimming around the floor of the Caribbean Sea, near a hanging reef.

The three-foot shark settled right below him, almost like it was asking for help.

Ben pulled the kitchen knife out of the shark’s head, leaving quite a nasty-looking wound.

The good news is that the same nurse shark has been seen happily swimming around the reef.

Don’t you just love a feel-good story on a Friday!

Digging for dinner

Talk about digging for your dinner.

This video captured men digging live mudfish out of dry dirt for food in Ghana, West Africa.

It looks rather an easy catch, but I think I’ll pass, thanks.

Number 5:

Couple married for 37 years always wears matching outfits

Photo: https://www.boredpanda.com

This is taking mixing and matching to the next level! A couple from Japan has co-ordinated their outfits for 37 years.

They go by the name bonpon511 on Instagram, where they have over 65k followers, and while they might be in their sixties, they have a great eye for fashion.

As cute as this pair might look, there is no way I would want to dress like my partner or would like my partner to match me.

(a) I can barely find clothes to wear to work everyday, let alone be colour co-cordinated to match my partner.

(b) This couple must have an awful lot of time on their hands.

(c) My partner and I cannot agree on which toothpaste to buy, so I can’t imagine us trying to plan a matching outfit together.

(d) My partner has no fashion sense. (Hush, don’t tell him. LOL).
