POLITICIANS world-wide have long been implicated in sex scandals and South Africa is no exception.
From ‘brief encounters’ to ‘that thing was a one night stand’, ‘playthings’ and inappriopriate requests….(he he he he he – Zuma’s laugh) it seems things are hotting up.
Experts believe political turmoil has led politicians to play dirty. I mean, it’s not new that ahead of important campaigns, political party conferences or elections, South Africans are often made aware of these shenanigans through leaked conversations, screen-shots, WhatsApp messages, emails or even videos.
Here are some of the politicians who have had tongues wagging over the past few years:
The latest, Jeff Radebe and his alleged ‘sexting’ with presidency photographer.
When police minister Fikile Mbalula was accused of getting a young model pregnant, he allegedly said ‘it was just a one night stand’.
Mmusi Maimane, Athol Trollip and other male DA members have at various times been accused of using women as ‘playthings’.
Former US representative Anthony Weiner reportedly admitted to sending explicit Twitter messages to a young female follower.
Ex Cosatu president, Zwelinzima Vavi who allegedly said he only had a ‘brief encounter’ with a staff member when he was accused of rape.
Finance Minister, Malusi Gigaba and his affair with Buhle Mkhize led to a catfight between his wife and his mistress.
President Jacob Zuma was accused of raping Kwezi. During trial, he said ‘he took a shower’ afterwards.
Former US president Bill Clinton and the ‘Intern in the Blue Dress’, Monica Lewinsky
Marius Fransman was accused of sexually assaulting a subordinate.
Like the saying goes, No bad deed goes unpunished – your sinister ways will one day catch up with you. Well, that’s if you don’t catch a wake up and ‘zip it’…
