DEAR Editor,-
I am also disgruntled. But not in the same way as the author of last week’s letter.
I am disgruntled by the continuous complaints about our wonderful town, which, if the thin veil is pulled back, exposes the complaints for what they are – racism.
YOU MIGHT ALSO BE INTERESTED IN : OPINION: ‘Royally ripped off at festival’
My white friends tell me that in the ‘old days’, white students descended on Margate in droves and smashed the tickey boxes, flower pots and anything else that was ‘breakable’.
This is long forgotten, but now that South Africa’s towns and facilities are open to all races, there’s a continual slew of complaints.
The debris left by attendees to the recent Ugu Jazz Festival was cleaned up very quickly and by lunchtime the town was spotless.
May I suggest that those who cannot accept change – come and see me in person I’m waiting. Or go and live in Orania.

EDITOR: Valid comment. However, for what it’s worth, the Herald was also flooded with complaints about students in those days as well.
