OPINION: ‘Humans pose a threat to our wildlife’

We are blessed to have such wonderful wildlife and we should make every effort to ensure their well-being.

DEAR Editor,-

Alex Skene is to quick to condemn. Fifteen years ago there were three big groups of monkeys in our area, now there are only two – numbering between ten and 15.

And some are so underweight one can only hope they get through the winter.

With all the building development, the incorporation of indigenous trees like the hibiscus (which is basic monkey food) into gardens attracts them.

Only to be shot with pellets, catapults, bow and arrows, live ammunition or poisoned by these sanctimonious ‘God-fearing Christians’.

These are the only ones complaining of too many monkeys.

We are blessed to have such wonderful wildlife and we should make every effort to ensure their well-being.

There is a huge country out there – if you don’t want to live with wildlife.
