OPINION: ‘Drive cautiously near damaged traffic lights’

Something needs to happen to stop drivers from crashing into the Park Rynie traffic lights on the R102.

DEAR Editor;

This matter may have been reported by many people over the years already, so here is another complaint to add to the lot.

Something needs to happen to stop drivers from crashing into the Park Rynie traffic lights on the R102.

Although this might be something out of the hands of anyone with authority, someone needs to pitch an idea to make these traffic lights indestructible, at least.

A little while back I believe we had new traffic lights put in place and it didn’t take long before someone had to go and knock one down.

After that accident, only one section of traffic lights worked and created absolute chaos among drivers – locals and visitors included.

My vehicle was almost knocked twice because some people treated these faulty traffic lights as a normal fourway stop, while others still relied on the one or two working lights to go green, so basically everyone was driving at their own discretion.

Not too long after that, all the lights stopped working.

Drivers now go on a first come first go basis, but there are still some impatient people who do as they please which may only end badly if these traffic lights aren’t sorted.

So, drivers, please be patient and drive carefully in that area while we wait for the lights to be repaired… again.
