Bread and soup for the homeless

There can never be enough feeding schemes.

Trying to make a difference on the streets of Margate is Macs Familia Motorcycle Club in Margate.

Members of the club embarked on a feeding scheme on Sunday, July 10, where they provided bread and soup to the homeless, and people passing by.

Macs Familia Margate’s vice president, Johan Opperman, told Fever that they are just trying to make a difference by helping those in need for as long as their resources allow them to do so.

Opperman said that although there are presently so many feeding schemes trying to help people in need, those efforts can never be enough.

“On Sunday, it was our first drive and we received good support not only from those who received the soup and bread but also from different clubs and individuals. We will be hosting a food drive every second week. This initiative would not be possible without the help of sponsors who we appreciate greatly,” said Opperman.

He added that they will try raising funds for the club’s feeding initiative by selling baked goods from the South Coast Ink Studio in Margate.

“Macs Familia is a motorcycle club for both men and women who enjoy riding motorcycles. We all have a passion for riding,” said Opperman, adding that for more information on the initiative, the public can contact Macs Familia Margate’s president Morne Viljoen on 084 620 2134 or the vice president on 067 890 5920.
