IFP wins Umuziwabantu by-election
The IFP was followed by the Sizwe Ummah Nation (SUN) which bagged 503 votes while the ANC received 355 votes.
The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) won the recent Ward 11 Umuziwabantu Municipality by-election by a clear majority with 1 149 votes.
The by-election came after the resignation of the Ward 11 councillor who had won during the 2021 local government election.
Results of the by-election show that the IFP was followed by Sizwe Ummah Nation (SUN) which bagged 503 votes while the ANC received 355 votes.
The IFP Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) said it was very humbled by the victory in Ward 11, adding that the results confirm that the people of KwaZulu–Natal are hungry for an IFP-led government.
“The people of Ward 11 rejected an arrogant leadership from governing in municipalities and the province. The IFP obtained a clear majority with 1 149 votes; while the ANC managed only 355, and Sun 503 votes. This resounding victory in Ward 11 of uMuziwabantu reflects the confidence that the people of KwaZulu-Natal have in the IFP. The people of KwaZulu-Natal have consistently expressed that they are tired of arrogance and unethical leadership. Recent by-elections won by IFP in the city of uMhlathuze, as well as Mthonjaneni, uMvoti, uMfolozi and now Umuziwabantu, overwhelmingly indicate that people of KwaZulu Natal trust the IFP,” said the party’s provincial PEC.
It added that the party commits itself to continue working hard, and to deliver the best service to the people of Ward 11 as well as the entire province of KwaZulu-Natal.
The PEC said the IFP’s founder and president emeritus, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi, taught IFP members to be servant leaders, and to put the people’s needs ahead of everything else.
“We shall continue to do that, and today we will start working in Ward 11 in the service of our people. Furthermore all IFP councillors elected during these by-elections will sign the IFP’s oath, wherein they commit to serving the people with integrity,” said the PEC.
