Ugu EFF members named provincial team members
Njenga and Buthelezi were elected during the third KwaZulu-Natal EFF People’s Assembly held in Durban over the weekend.
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Ugu regional chairperson, Ncedo Njenga was recently elected as one of the party’s new Provincial Command Team (PCT).
Njenga was elected along with Khethiwe Bhuthelezi, who is a Ugu EFF Regional Command Team (RCT) member and also the former Ugu EFF regional secretary.
Njenga and Buthelezi were elected during the third KwaZulu-Natal EFF People’s Assembly held in Durban over the weekend.
The former Ugu EFF chair told Fever that the recent election meant that he will no longer be the regional chairperson, saying that the current Ugu EFF deputy chairperson, Nsikayezwe Gumede, will be acting in the position of Ugu EFF chairperson.
“In terms of when the position of Ugu EFF regional chairperson will be filled, we are always guided by the Central Command Team (CCT),” said Njenga, adding that his duties as a KZN PCT member will include guiding regions and assisting the EFF in growing its membership across the province.
During the KZN People’s Assembly, outgoing chairperson Vusumuzi Khoza lost out on re-election to the same position to fellow contender Mongezi Twala.
According to the report given by Khoza on the growth of the party, the EFF has gone from 70 000 members to just over 140 000 paid-up members, which he said was more than 100% growth. When it comes to representation in the provincial legislature, Khoza added that the party had gone from having two representatives to having eight, which he said was phenomenal growth.
Meanwhile, EFF national secretary Marshall Dlamini thanked the outgoing leadership for a job well done, adding that the conference is about giving a report back of what transpired in the past four years before they can start talking about how to take the party forward.
