Man stabs resident to death

Paramedics declared him dead on a gravel road.

Following a stabbing incident, Asanda Hlongwa aka Loto was recently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and was declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Port Shepstone police spokesperson, Captain Petros Mpinge, said the community at KwaCele in Scottburgh began the 2022 on a bitter note when a 41-year-old resident was fatally stabbed in the chest and thigh.

“Paramedics declared him dead on a gravel road. A witness to the stabbing identified the suspect who was then promptly arrested by police.

After several court appearances in the Scottburgh Regional Court, Hlongwa was recently sentenced to 10 years imprisonment and was declared unfit to possess a firearm,” said Mpinge, adding that the investigating officer was Detective Warrant Officer Njabulo Latha of Scottburgh Detective Service.
