All-women event comes to Sheppie

The theme for the Port Shepstone edition is denim and white with a colourful doek.

Bring toiletry items, sanitary pads, pre-loved or new bras to the Doek On Fleek Denim and White Picnic Tour at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on Sunday, November 27.

According to the founder, Thandi Mavata, The Doek On Fleek Denim and White Picnic Port Shepstone is a strictly women’s only picnic that encourages networking and time-out for the ladies.

Mavata added that it is the most talked about movement in Africa and the United Kingdom.
She said the aim of the movement is to unite, celebrate, support, and empower women from all walks of life and dismiss the notion that women don’t support each other.

She said the theme for the Port Shepstone edition is denim and white with a colourful doek.

“The unity and love women show each other at our gatherings are exhilarating, rendering it feasible to continue hosting ladies often. Women who will attend the event can expect entertainment, inspiration-motivation, lots of fun and laughter, and give-aways. They can also expect performances from Sjava, Lindough and 2 Short. Expect the most memorable day as a woman. Come as strangers and leave as friends,” said Mavata.

She added that event-goers can bring folding chairs, picnic baskets, a doek, and cooler box at a fee, Mavata said weapons, drugs, bottles, and children are not allowed at the event.
