Ugu council appoints acting MM
Vela Owen Mazibuko comes with a wealth of local government experience as he is currently employed by the municipality as a General Manager Corporate Services.
After the recent death of former Ugu municipal manager, Elliot Ntombela, the council of Ugu District Municipality has appointed Vela Owen Mazibuko as the acting municipal manager.
According to Ugu municipal spokesperson, France Zama, Mazibuko was appointed during a council meeting held on Tuesday.
Zama said Mazibuko comes with a wealth of local government experience as he is currently employed by the municipality as a General Manager Corporate Services.
“In making this appointment, council expressed its confidence in Mazibuko’s administrative leadership in bringing about the desired outcomes in the execution of the municipality’s service delivery strategies during this period,” said Zama.
Meanwhile, Ugu District Municipality and the ANC in the Tolomane Mnyayiza Region have not said anything about filling the position of mayor in Ugu.
Ugu mayor, Phumlile Mthiyane died a few days after Ntombela.
