Councillors’ workshop ‘addresses’ poor service delivery
All ANC councillors at all levels within the district attended.
With a number of service delivery issues facing municipalities within the Ugu District, the ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza Regional (TMR) Executive Committee recently convened a councillors’ workshop targeting all ANC councillors within the district.
According to Tolomane Mnyayiza regional spokesperson, Wendy Mqadi, the main objective of the workshop was to strengthen ANC oversight over municipalities it governs.
Mqadi said the workshop was attended by all ANC councillors at all levels within the district.

“To ensure proper interface conducive for improved service delivery, attendance to this workshop was extended to municipal managers and senior managers in the same municipalities. This workshop focused on the delivery of key elements contained in the ANC’s manifesto, but further emphasis was put on improving service delivery, accountability and public participation. The workshop which covered different aspects of governance and oversight role was well attended as all targeted municipalities were in attendance,” said Mqadi.
ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza Region Head of Governance Sub-committee, Mbali Cele-Luthuli, said with the workshop, they desire an outcome that speaks to an understanding of the most important services that must be delivered and methods for accountability and public participation.

“It is through interventions like these that organisational and societal renewal will move from talk and conceptualisation to meaningful and tangible outcomes that touches the lived experiences of all. This workshop is part of ANC Tolomane Mnyayiza broader ongoing capacity building designed to improve the performance of ANC deployees,” she said.
