South Coasters keep making their mark wherever they are and getting the attention of renowned celebrities while at it.
Recently, South African comedian and Gagasi FM radio personality, Felix Hlophe took to social media to ask the public to help him find an artist from the South Coast.
Hlophe’s post read: “I went down to Port Shepstone last year for a concert. At a parking lot, I met a very interesting young man whom I spoke to for a while. And I discovered a real talent in him. I promised to call him up to Durban when the Lord felt it was his time. He had told me that he had a short stint living overseas. Has a bit of an accent that he tries so hard to hide. I lost his number. But Port Shepstone is a manageable pool to try find someone who fits this description. Help me find him.”
Following that post, South Coasters came to Hlophe’s rescue and mentioned the person they assumed he was looking for.
A few days after, the comedian took to social media again to say: “Thank you South Coast (NSC) I found him. His name is Mmiselo Marcus Ficaa.”
Ficaa is a musician from Umtentweni who does rap and he recently released a track called ‘Stressless’.
Meanwhile, a number of celebrities have previously reached out to the public to assist in locating ‘creatives’ from the South Coast. Musician, L’vovo Derango also took to Instragram recently looking for a South Coast-based TikToker, Shareen Mvundla. Also, a dating coach from the South Coast, Nhlanhla Ngaleka, who shares her work on TikTok has also been hailed by celebrities such as Khanyi Mbau for the content she creates.
