On the verge of a fatal accident

In addition, it creates cover for the many paras who skulk around, plotting criminal activity.

Whilst it is pleasing to see some verges being cut in some areas, it is cause for concern that the verges on Rethman Drive in Umtentweni remain overgrown.

It’s absolutely necessary for them to remain cut from a safety standpoint.

Firstly, there is nowhere to walk for the many pedestrians who walk home towards Saint Faiths and its surrounds. Often, people are not visible especially at dusk and dawn when most people go to and from work.
Even when they become visible, drivers may swerve into the opposite lane to avoid them, causing accidents or possibly ending up in a ditch.

For drivers coming from side roads, it is difficult to see oncoming traffic because of overgrown hedges and trees.
As a result there have been quite a few accidents which have sometimes led to the loss of life, especially as most drivers ignore the 80km speed limit.

In addition it creates cover for the many paras who skulk around, plotting criminal activity.
Perhaps our municipality or whoever is responsible for the maintenance of that area, can make this a priority.
There is no excuse, especially as the section between Rethman Drive and Abingdon Road (Marine Drive – R102) has been so recently cut.
