"The union and Ugu management settled down, reconciled and agreed to focus on the municipality’s stability, service delivery and progressive labour relations."

The article written by Ntandoyenkosi Dlamini (In my opinion: Appointing an Ugu Municipal Manager).
SAMWU has read this article with concerns that the article seeks to take the municipality and the union back to the years of bipolarity when both Ugu District Municipality’s SAMWU and management have moved on.

The union and Ugu management settled down, reconciled and agreed to focus on the municipality’s stability, service delivery and progressive labour relations.

The pronouncement by the Inkosi of KwaNdwalane Traditional Authority did not disturb SAMWU but was perceived as an exercise of a democratic right and a contribution from one of the prominent stakeholders of the municipality whose observation of the municipality’s challenges and requirements summed up to his articulated solution and position.

As much as SAMWU had a fallout with Mr Mazibuko in the past, the union remains principled and resolute in championing and advocating for upward mobility/growth of employees within the workplace, in particular, Ugu District Municipality. In essence, SAMWU always appreciates and applaud when the municipality recognises the contribution of its most important assets and products, the workers, through upward mobility.

Mr Mazibuko, as a worker, is no exception to that. In conclusion, SAMWU would be taken aback if Mr Mazibuko would be discriminated against, for the Municipal Manager’s position on the grounds of the erstwhile and reconciled situation between himself and the union.
