South Coast’s very own Khethukuthula ‘Olefied Khetha’ Yalo launched his recent song ‘Iskhathi’ at Senzi’s Lounge in Margate on Saturday, April 8.
Yalo told Fever that Iskhathi is dedicated to his late mother.
He said when he wrote the song, he was at a point in his life where he felt like his mother should have been here to witness all the good happening to him.
And to also be there for him whenever he is feeling down or when he encounters moments of failure.
“This is one of the songs that is very close to my heart because it speaks volumes on how I really feel inside and how I wish she was still alive. The emotions behind this track are what every living being go through at some point in their lives, hence the choice of words I used and the way I structured the song. Although it was just me pouring my heart out, I also did not want it to just be about me alone, I wanted to make something that a lot of people can relate to because I know I’m not the only one who has lost someone they really cared about,” said Yalo.
The musician said: “After I posted a couple of teasers of the song, as well as the official trailer, I was getting a lot of love, the feedback is amazing. I was getting texts from people telling me how much they were looking forward to the release of the song because of how much they relate and how much it heals and makes them miss their loved ones even more. This one guy commented on one of my posts saying, his mother’s image was starting to fade in his head but the song brought back all the beautiful memories they shared together.”
He added that with Iskhathi, he would love to see people finding closure and being healed.
Yalo said through this song, he wants wants people to accept, find peace and be able to live with the fact that they will only get to see their loved ones in heaven.
The musician who has worked with big names such as Big Zulu and Donald said he is currently working on an album saying that he will also be dropping an EP very soon.
“Also my team and I are in the process of shooting music videos for all the singles I have dropped, including Iskhathi,” he said.
