Celebrity doc’s dad ordered to remain in Port Edward
He faces charges relating to helping convicted killer and rapist, Thabo Bester escape from the maximum security Mangaung Correctional Centre.
The Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court ordered, Zolile Sekeleni, the father of celebrity doctor, Nandipha Magudumana, to report to the Port Edward police station once a week, and to remain within the magisterial district of Port Edward.
This was the condition which came with the R10 000 bail Sekeleni received on Monday.
Sekeleni’s bail conditions also included that he is barred from contacting any of the State’s witnesses.
The court said Sekeleni must return to the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on May 16, adding that failure to appear on that date and failure to adhere to his bail conditions would result in a warrant of arrest being issued for him.
The father of the disgraced celebrity doctor was also facing a murder charge but the National Prosecuting Authority withdrew it on Monday.
On Monday, the 65-year-old Sekeleni appeared in court together with his daughter and two others.
They face charges relating to helping convicted killer and rapist, Thabo Bester escape from the maximum security Mangaung Correctional Centre.
Meanwhile, the three other accused in the matter, including Magudumana, a former G4S employee Senohe Matsoara, and CCTV technician Tebogo Lipholo were remanded in custody and are due back in court for their bail applications on May 3 and 4, respectively.
