Local girls head to hockey finals
Suid-Natal and Kokstad College recently met in the regional final and played their hearts out, leaving everything on the turf.
Hoërskool Suid-Natal will be among the champions that will face Grantleigh College from the North Coast Region at the grand final of the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge in July.
This comes after Grantleigh College retained its title at the North Coast Regionals of the SPAR KZN Schoolgirls’ Hockey Challenge on Saturday, May 20.
Suid-Natal and Kokstad College recently met in the regional final and played their hearts out, leaving everything on the turf. Suid-Natal managed to hold strong and go one up on Kokstad College, winning their very first title since the tournament’s inception in 2011.
Meanwhile, Grantleigh College was the last team to secure their berth at this year’s grand finals that will take place at St Mary’s DSG in Kloof in July.
This will be the college’s fifth appearance at the grand finals. They will meet nine other KZN regional champions representing their area at the concluding tournament. They are Hoërskool Sui-Natal (Sisonke and uGu Regional), Danville Park Girls’ High School (Durban North Regional), St Mary’s DSG (Highway Regional), Kuswag Hoërskool (Durban South Regional), Durban Girls’ College (Durban Central Regional), The Wykeham Collegiate (Pietermaritzburg North Regional), St Dominics Newcastle (Northern KZN Regional), Ladysmith High School (uMvoti and oThukela Regional) and Pietermaritzburg Girls’ High School (Pietermaritzburg Central. Regional).
