Karatekas head to Zimbabwe for championships

Young karatekas to represent South Africa in Zimbabwe.

A group of karateka from the WKF Ugu Karate have been selected to represent South Africa at the UFAK Region 5 Championships to be held in Harare, Zimbabwe from June 8 to 11.

Blake and Tyler Hogan who are currently ranked number one in their respective divisions will represent the country as Protea members.

Dylan Peeriyilal, Gareth Selkon, and Travis Campher who are ranked number three in their respective divisions will represent South Africa in Karate South Africa colours. As per SASCOC, Protea colours can only be awarded to the top two in each division of a sporting code.

Ugu Karate chairperson, Shihan Coenie Vrey said: “This is amazing achievement for all the karateka, we are proud of their achievements and wish them every success in the upcoming championship.”
