Karatekas return with medals from Zimbabwe champs

Tyler Hogan received a gold medal in the U21 male kata division, Travis Campher received a bronze in his respective junior kumite division and Blake Hogan received a gold medal in his respective U12/13 kumite division.

A group of karateka from the WKF Ugu Karate recently returned from Zimbabwe where they took part in the UFAK Region South Karate Championships.

The championships were held in Harare, Zimbabwe from June 8 to 11.

The group of Ugu athletes flew the South African and Ugu flags high by representing their country and region at the prestigious event.

It was an action-packed albeit exhausting few days for the athletes, where national team training and the competition were packed into the four-day event.

We are proud of the athletes who brought back medals from the hard-fought competition, which assisted South Africa in obtaining the highest medal count at the tournament out of the seven countries that competed.
