‘Children belong in secure families’

Non-profit organisation, Give a Child a Family Africa, is urging compassionate individuals with big hearts and a genuine love for the well-being of children, to step forward and become emergency safety parents and foster care parents.
Give a Child a Family is a registered child protection organisation in Margate which promotes the rights and well-being of children and families.
According to Mareli Schwartz of the organisation, almost every day, they hear about a child that has been orphaned, abused, neglected, or abandoned, saying that no child from any cultural background is exempt from this kind of tragedy.
Schwartz said children who have been removed from their biological families or caregivers, need safety parents on a short-term basis, averaging from an overnight stay to six months.
“Unfortunately, not all children who have been removed from their biological homes can be reunited with their families. Therefore, we provide longer-term foster care for them, too. We are seeking your willingness to open your home to provide true love and care that can make a profound impact on the lives of these children, offering them the care and stability they require to thrive, creating a nurturing environment where these children can find love and have hope for a brighter future. We need parents of all cultural backgrounds from the Ugu District to come forward. We walk with you at this time, and you are not left alone to do this,” she said.
She added that for more information, contact them on 039 317 2761 or 076 5075942; alternatively email fostercare@gcf.org.za
