Radio gig for rising star
In winning the Gagasi FM presenter search, Siphokuhle Luthuli bagged a one year contract with the radio station as a radio personality where he will be co-hosting the Umsindo Takeover alongside Mkay Music.
Twenty one-year-old Siphokuhle Luthuli of Banana Beach (Melville) was named Gagasi FM’s rising star in its presenter search contest.
Luthuli had been shortlisted as one of the top five in the competition.
As the winner of the Gagasi FM presenter search, Luthuli bags a one year contract with the radio station as a radio personality. He will be co-hosting the Umsindo Takeover alongside Mkay Music. He also won a cheque for R10 000 courtesy of Gagasi FM and Vodacom Nxt Lvl.
Speaking to Fever, Luthuli said the people he had been shortlisted with, were extremely talented.
He said he had never been in a competition where he was competing against people who are so gifted.
“To this day, I still think that someone is going to come to me and say wake up, it is all just a dream. The work I have been getting has been coming to me consecutively. The first was the acting gig I secured on SABC 1’s Uzalo and not long after that I won the Gagasi FM Rising Star Presenter Search. I do not have a lot of words to express my gratitude because I am still in disbelief,” he said.
He added that his goal now is to grow, saying that every achievement he gets now, he wants to treat it like his little baby.
Luthuli said he needs to be present in every way, to guide it (achievement) and guide himself as the parent of the achievement.
“From now on, I pray that God and my ancestors keep me. I also wish that the support from the listeners, my friends, and my family never gets lost because I am the person I am today because of them. From now on, we are going all the way to the top,” he said, adding that this chance could have been given to anyone but Gagasi FM chose to give it to him
“So moving forward, I need to make sure that I take the Gagasi FM brand far. It is important that from here I look forward and not behind, no matter what I am leaving behind. I will find it ahead,” he said.
