Track Torque: Home win for Max Verstappen

As usual, Max Verstappen was the fastest thing on four wheels at the Dutch Grand Prix all weekend and took an easy win in very mixed weather.

Even teammate Sergio Perez could not get near to Verstappen, despite leading the early stages when he made a good decision to change to intermediate tyres before anyone else.
Ferrari were again disappointing with only one car finishing.

Fernando Alonso was mighty and did extremely well to bring his Aston Martin home second behind Verstappen. His wealth of skill and experience spoke volumes.
Pierre Gasly drove above himself in the difficult conditions and gave us another very good showing in the Alpine Renault, onto the podium.

Sergio Perez made it home in fourth but one feels he could have always done a little bit better in his Red Bull Honda.
Carlos Sainz was next up in fifth position in the sole Ferrari to be going at the end of the race.
Lewis Hamilton tried very hard during the whole race with mixed fortunes, he really should have finished higher up than sixth in his Mercedes.

Another disappointment after doing so well during practice and qualifying was the performance of both McLarens.
Lando Norris was second on the grid but in the end could only make it home in seventh position with his teammate Oscar Piastri, two back in ninth place.

I expected at least one of the Woking machines to be on the podium at the finish.
The two Williams Mercedes cars of Alexander Albon and Logan Sargeant really performed well earlier on, but unfortunately only one finished and that was Albon in eighth place.
Esteban Ocon earned the last point for finishing 10th in his Alpine Renault.

The ‘Circus’ moves across to Monza for the Italian Grand Prix this weekend.
It’s the home of the famous Tifosi Ferrari fans, all in red.
After the sea of orange at Zandvoort, let us hope that Prancing Horses do not let their side down.
