EFF councillors in RNM could resign
A member of the EFF in the Ugu region who did not want to be named shared the list of the members with Fever. It included PR councillors from RNM such as Sthabile Cele, Cynthia Hadebe, Daniel Mbotho, Nomzamo Ndovela, and Sibonelo Nqoko.
Six EFF proportional representative councillors in Ray Nkonyeni Municipality might have to resign as councillors after allegedly failing to organise buses for constituents, to attend the party’s 10th anniversary rally held in Johannesburg in July.
During a virtual press briefing last Sunday, EFF leader Julius Malema said they are recalling 210 public representatives for allegedly failing to adhere to the directive given in January, to arrange transport for members attending the celebrations.
These include members of Parliament, the provincial legislature and councillors.
“This resolution is in line with Section 14 Subsection 9 of the EFF constitution, which says the Central Command Team (CCT) has the power to recall any deployees of the organisation from any position, including deployment as public representatives. The CCT further resolved to remove from elected structures all leaders who failed to organise transport and pay for the 10th anniversary celebrations. I have no time for staff riders who have no capacity. Whether they have been with us for long or not, it means nothing if they can’t perform a simple task,” said Malema.

Also, Nokubonga Biyase of Umzumbe and Sonnyboy Mzindle along with Nomvelo Ndadane of Umuziwabantu were on the list.
These councillors, including Cynthia Hadebe told Fever that they are not allowed to talk to the media and only the regional leadership can speak on their behalf.
EFF Ugu regional secretary Bonnie Duma said he can confirm that some councillors in the region have been affected.
“The organisation has spoken. In the EFF we are led through democratic centralism. The CCT has taken a decision and the decision is not negotiable. I will not mention names because the EFF leader said these councillors need to come forward and give the organisation proof of payment that they did organise buses. The list may end up being short but we are all waiting for the end of the week, to see who will be asked to resign,” said Duma.
He added that councillors are aware that when the organisation deploys them, they need to accept it and when the organisation recalls them, they also need to accept and work for the party at a branch level.
