Man beaten to death with hammer
Mondli Thutshini's sister, Sbahle Thutshini told Fever that they are still living in fear because not everyone who is allegedly behind his death has been arrested.
The family of Mlondi Thutshini (32) who was killed in Gamalakhe recently, said they are not relieved that two people are in police custody.
Thutshini was allegedly beaten with a hammer on August 20 during a fight, allegedly over money he was owed. He died in hospital.
Thutshini’s sister, Sbahle Thutshini, told Fever that they are still living in fear because not everyone who is allegedly behind Thutshini’s death has been arrested.
“We are not relieved because the third person who is behind this has not been found yet, there were three of them. One of them is from Umlazi, he was just renting a room in Gamalakhe, the other was allegedly Mlondi’s neighbour, and the third one is unknown, people suspect he is from the Nkulu area near Gamalakhe,” said Sbahle.
She added that she could not believe that her brother was subjected to such cruelty.
She explained that she did not believe the news of her brother’s death.
Sbahle said she received the news of his passing while she was at work, saying that she did not believe it.
“He had sent me a message that morning but I did not pay much attention to it because I was at work but when I got home, I saw messages from my family members telling me that he is no more,” she said.
She described her brother as a person who loved laughing and hated negative vibes.
She added that Thutshini is survived by a five-month-old son, who will always remind them of him.
Thutshini’s death sent shockwaves throughout Gamalakhe township with some residents wondering why his neighbour would allegedly kill him.
Margate police spokesperson Sergeant Sibu Ncane said a 24-year-old man and a 39-year-old are facing murder charges.
