Robbery suspect sentenced

Cwele was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

Mabhelandile Cwele (24) was recently sentenced to 12 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances at the Ezinqoleni Regional Court.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Sibu Ncane said half of the sentence has been suspended for five years.
Ncane said Cwele was also declared unfit to possess a firearm.

“On September 13, 2022, the victim was hijacked at gunpoint at Sikhulu Ward in Harding where his white Colt LDV was taken. Cwele was apprehended shortly thereafter with the assistance of the community and arrested for robbery with aggravating circumstances. He remained in police custody throughout his trial,” said Ncane.
