Third world championship for Max Verstappen
The track at Doha presented a great challenge to the drivers, with wind from the desert causing the cars to move about.
Max Verstappen was crowned world champion at the Qatar Grand Prix Sprint race in Doha, Qatar last Saturday.
He split the two McLarens by coming home second behind Oscar Piastri and in front of Lando Norris after starting behind them on the grid.
It was a great result for the McLarens as well and they continued their excellent form onto race day on Sunday.
Max certainly deserves his championship win and by winning the main race he carried on with an unblemished record of 14 wins in a row.
He has vowed to continue with great determination to win as many more of the races this year as he can. The weekend also really showed that the rise of McLaren to the top echelons of Formula One is not a temporary flash in the pan.
While Lewis Hamilton went off at the first corner after colliding with his teammate, George Russell in the second Mercedes continued on to give a very good account of himself into fourth place.
The only surviving Ferrari of Charles Leclerc was just three seconds behind Russell in fifth place and Fernando Alonso was not much further back in sixth place in his Aston Martin.
Further down the track was Esteban Ocon, seventh in his Alpine Renault and Valtteri Bottas was next, closely followed by his team mate Zhou Gluanyu in the other Alfa Romeo, eight and ninth respectively.
In the final points scoring position was Sergio Perez in his Red Bull after another disappointing weekend.

A number of drivers were penalised for exceeding track limits but, all in all, it was a good spectacle for a night in the desert.
The United States Grand Prix will follow in two weeks’ time on the western side of the world.
