Gin tasting on the wild side
Deon Mastenbroek said the gin-filled extravaganza promises a captivating showcase of South African gin brands, delightful culinary offerings, and an entertainment line-up that’s set to light up the night.
Margate resident Deon Mastenbroek from the SA Gin Society will be giving a platform for smaller gin distillers to showcase their products to the public at Wild Coast Gin Festival on December 16.
Mastenbroek said the gin-filled extravaganza promises a captivating showcase of South African gin brands, delightful culinary offerings, and an entertainment line-up that’s set to light up the night.
He said they hosted their first gin festival in 2017, saying that they did not know what they were doing.
“We have grown so much from that event. We are very excited that the Wild Coast Sun has been added to this year’s edition. We have had seven of these festivals in Bloemfontein, Johannesburg, Cape Town and in most provinces in the country. For this year, we will be ending off 2023 on the Wild Coast. We will be bringing some craft gin distillers to the event. For us, the gin is always the star but we don’t always get too serious – we also have fun at the Gin Festival,” said Mastenbroek.
He added that the entertainment line-up includes the winner of Masked Singer South Africa Holly Rey, adding that a full line-up will be announced in due course.
Mastenbroek said offerings at the Wild Coast Sun, the festival’s entertainment line-up will perfectly complement the gin-tasting experience.
Meanwhile, Wild Coast Sun’s general manager Peter Tshidi said they got to know about the SA Gin Society through a networker of the Wild Coast Sun.
“When we heard about the festival we knew that this was the right event for us. We are excited about this collaboration,” said Tshidi.
