Oshabeni run promotes healthy lifestyle

The marathon is open to people aged 12 years and older.

With the aim to discover and develop running talent while promoting a healthy lifestyle in Oshabeni, Lungisani Shange has organised a 5km run for residents.

Shange told Fever that the Vusushaba Run will start at the Assissi Clinic in Oshabeni on Sunday, December 10 at 7.30am.

He said it is open to people aged 12 years and older.

He added that as a runner in the Oshabeni area for over nine years made him want to embark on the initiative.

“There will be prizes for participants to motivate them after the race. The first man and woman to cross the finish line will walk away with R500 each. The second woman and man will receive R250 each and whoever places third will receive R150,” said Shange.

He added that the top 10 finishers (both male and female) will get medals and certificate as tokens of appreciation.

Shange said runners and community members who may be willing, will get an opportunity to join the Oshabeni Running Academy after the marathon.
