Hopeful FC clinch Wolf football league title
It was the first time Wolf Security sponsored the tournament, however, they look forward to supporting it again next year.
Eighteen teams took part in this year’s Wolf Gcilima Football League which started on February 26 and finished on November 12.
The final round of the league took place at Jabavu Sports Field, Thokothe in Gcilima where Hopeful Football Club played against Young Fellows.
Hopeful FC proved to be dominant in the game, beating Young Fellow 8-3 to secure the league title.
As champions, they walked away with a prizemoney of R10 000, plus a trophy and medals.The next three teams also received prizes and medals, with runners-up American City FC taking R8 000 and silver medals.
Third placed Juventus received R7 500 and fourth placed Real Masters R6 500.
Elijah Mditshwa, Wolf team manager and communications officer for the league, said it was the first time that Wolf had sponsored the tournament and that he was very proud of all the the teams that took part.
He said Wolf Security is looking forward to sponsoring the league next year and congratulated the winners.
