Uniting against gender-based violence
An appeal is made to the public to report all abuse and violence, as a victim and also on behalf of someone that you know.
Port Shepstone SAPS is using its internal structures such as the Women’s Network, Men for Change, Junior Management Core and Internal Youth to raise awareness on the 16 Days of Activism Campaign against gender-based violence.
Police spokesperson Captain Adam Francis said the campaign is an international drive aimed at building and strengthening a global undertaking that seeks to end all practises of gender-based violence by alleviating consciousness on crimes against women and children.
He said the drive is part of the 365 Days Action Plan to end the scourge of abuse against women and children.
“An appeal is made to the public to report all abuse and violence, as a victim and also on behalf of someone that you know. Let us stand together and declare no to violence against women and children. You are asked to contact the nearest police station, Crime Stop on 0860010111 and MySAPS app,” said Francis.
