New lead role excites actress
The producers of S’phiwo said the drama series offers a unique viewpoint through the connected lives of two extraordinary girls destined to fulfil a legacy much greater than themselves.
“Brace yourself for a rollercoaster of emotions as I dive into this journey of portraying Zodwa.” These are the words of South Coast actress Nozuko Ntshangase who will be playing the lead role in Mzansi Magic’s latest drama series S’phiwo which will premiere on Dstv channel 161 on January 8.
Ntshangase, who is originally from Gamalakhe said: “I can’t wait for you all to join me on this thrilling ride.”

They described the show as one of self-discovery, a battle against unseen forces, and proof of the idea that everyone is connected in profound ways.
They explained that the premiere episode will introduce Nothando, vibrant and eager to experience university life to its fullest, and Zodwa, a young sangoma whose spiritual depth and seriousness make her stand out from the crowd.
They added that an unexpected rooming mishap brings their worlds together, triggering a series of incidents that reveal the undeniable power of their connection.
“The drama intensifies with a murder mystery on campus that draws them closer to their true calling – a bond destined by the ancestors. With a cast led by Zeno Maseko as Nothando and Nozuko Ntshangase as Zodwa, along with Sabelo Nkosi as Solomzi, Ngele Ramulondi as Takalani, and Obakeng Makube playing Nathi, S’phiwo is going to become a highlight of Monday night television,” they said.
In July 2023, Ntshangase’s agent Canvas CAM announced that the actress had a lead role in a new drama series without mentioning its name.
The agent said the story with Ntshangase has the holy spirit written all over it.
“Nozuko was not originally selected to audition, but something in my spirit said Nope! They have to see her for this. Come hell or high water, I told Thuli to send her the brief anyway and slip her tape in with the rest of the selected artists. When she got the callback, we knew that that was the holy spirit nudge to send her through. The rest, as they say, is history. Congratulations Nozuko. We can’t wait to see you take this role on and soar,” said the agent.
