Broadcast equipment stolen from radio station

The radio station has been closed due to alleged internal conflict.

Radio Sunny South in Oslo Beach was burgled and broadcasting equipment was stolen recently.
The radio station has been closed due to alleged internal conflict.
The station manager Sphiwe Yeni said everything was stolen.

“A camera and computer in the studio was stolen. The files from the station manager’s office were also leaked,” said Yeni, adding that they will need R30 000 for the basic broadcasting equipment, while the total cost of the damaged goods will be R75 000.

“We urge the public to assist the police to find the stolen items, we encourage them to report it because these things do not belong to them,” said Yeni.

Radio Sunny South has been off-air since December 13 after some radio presenters called for Yeni’s removal.
The presenters also accused Yeni of interfering in departments he should not be while Yeni accused the presenters of unlawfully closing the station.

“The radio equipment and the air conditioner was taken,” said Yeni, adding that the person behind the crime is cruel.

He said it would take a lot of money for them to return to air because even broadcasting cables were cut.
Meanwhile, KZN police spokesperson Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala said the police are investigating a case of burglary after a radio station was broken into, and an air conditioner and broadcast equipment were stolen.
