Top awards for Sheppie police officers
The National Excellence Awards were held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand Gauteng.
Four police officers recently represented the Ugu District at the recent Saps Excellence Awards.
The awards ceremony recognised deserving and dedicated men and women in blue in over 60 categories who consistently went and continue to go above and beyond the call of duty, to safeguard the citizens of South Africa.
The awards were held at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand, Gauteng.
Among the four members representing Ugu were Sergeant Thembeka Magubane of Saps Southport who won in the category of Visible Policing and Operations Employee of the Year Level 5 – 7.
Sergeant Kethukuthula Nkomo of K9 Port Shepstone was the winner in the category of High Risk Member of the Year Level 5 – 7.
Port Shepstone Search and Rescue represented by Warrant Officer Fafa Pretorius bagged second runner-up in the category of Medium Risk Team of the Year.
Also, Captain Mandla Chiya of K9 Port Shepstone was the second runner-up for the Medium Risk Member of the year level 8-12.
KZN police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda said the purpose of the awards was to recognise and celebrate the outstanding contributions of Saps members and personnel who consistently display exceptional dedication to their roles and tirelessly fight against all forms of criminal activity, ensuring safer communities.
