Rising rugby star on a mission to excel

Kwanele Ntshulane is a rising rugby star who recently made it into three KZN provincial teams in a season.
The Marburg Secondary learner who plays the positions of lock, flank, and eighth man is originally from Umuziwabantu Municipality in Harding.
According to Sabelo Myeza, development officer for rugby in the South Coast region, Ntshulane’s dedication to rugby and his raw potential was recognised in 2022, after he earned a spot in the schools’ summer games U15 KZN team.
Myeza said the 16-year-old has been honing his skills in the Southern KwaZulu-Natal Rugby (SKZN) youth ranks, showing versatility and talent across multiple positions.
“Now turning 16, he has ambitious goals set for the future. His short-term aspirations include securing a place in the renowned Grant Khomo U16 team and pursuing a scholarship to a leading rugby school, where he can further develop his talent and pursue his rugby dreams. His highlights, so far, include being selected for the schools’ summer games U15 KZN team (2022), iQhawe Week U15 KZN team (2023) and being selected for the school winter games U15 KZN team (2023). He is driven by his mission to achieve his goals and excel in the sport,” said Myeza.
Speaking about Ntshulane’s potential, Myeza said the aspiring player possesses the physical attributes, skill set, and determination to thrive in the demanding world of the sport.
He said his selection for the iQhawe Week team was a testament to his potential and his drive to progress.
Myeza said he believes that with the right opportunities and continued dedication, the teenager has the potential to become a significant force in South African rugby.
