Blue Ocean Aquatics (BOA) Swimming Club had a very successful Level 3 regional meet in Bloemfontein recently.
Kirsty Koegelenberg made 10 finals and won three gold medals, one silver medal and three bronze medals. She had an improvement overall on her times of 34.67 seconds.
Gold – 400m freestyle, 200m freestyle, 100m breaststroke. Silver – 200m breaststroke. Bronze – 100m freestyle, 50m breaststroke, 200m IM.
Finals – 200m backstroke (4th), 50m freestyle (5th) and 50m butterfly (6th).
Nathan Hartman made six finals and won a gold medal in the 50m backstroke and improved by 4.71 seconds.
Gold – 50m backstroke. Finals – 200m freestyle (4th), 200m IM (5th), 50m freestyle (5th), 50m butterfly (6th), 100m freestyle (6th).
Liam Venter made six finals and had an overall improvement of 16.74 seconds,
Finals – 50m breaststroke (6th), 100m breaststroke (7th), 100m butterfly (8th), 50m freestyle (8th), 200m freestyle (9th), 200m IM (9th).
Peter Koegelenberg made three finals and improved by 15.8 seconds.
Finals – 400m freestyle (6th), 200m breaststroke (9th), 200m freestyle (10th).
BOA also attended the South African national junior championship, represented by three swimmers, namely Leah Scott, Ella Bunge and Thomas Delport.
Leah made one final where she came fifth in the 50m butterfly. She improved on her overall swims by 7.17 seconds.
Ella made five finals and improved by 34.9 seconds.
Finals – 50m breaststroke (6th), 100m freestyle (8th), 100m breaststroke (9th), 200m IM (10th), 200m breaststroke (7th).
Thomas Delport made one final, the 50m freestyle, where he placed 8th.
