Help talented dancer to compete overseas

He started off by doing flips and stretches at home, and now, a young and talented South Coast dancer will represent South Africa in the UK in June.

Sizolwethu Ngidi (11) of Gamalakhe is literally dancing his way to the stars, and calls on South Coasters to assist with funding or sponsorship, as he would need to cover all costs for outfits, travelling, accommodation and entry fees.

The grade 6 Port Shepstone Senior Primary learner was crowned the 2023 South African Dance Teachers Association’s (SADTA) South African dance champion after achieving his colours at a provincial competition.

Further achievements at several competitions in 2023 qualified him to travel to the 2024 Freestyle World Championships in Winter Gardens in Blackpool.

Sizolwethu started dancing in 2022 after he showed potential in gymnastics. His father, Dumisani, realised that his son had untapped talent and that he should pursue it.

“He has proven that he is a star after his first competition, where he achieved first place in freestyle, disco and slow dance. Sizo was able to achieve enough points to qualify for his championship status. I am proud of my son not only is he doing well in dancing, but he achieves top results academically as well. He is a disciplined boy and has a true vision for himself which is why, as parents, we are proud of him.”

He joined In Motion Dance Academy and later registered under SADTA.
