Sonali and Ethan conquer Rotary quiz
Fever Local News | The Rotary Club is considering hosting a quiz every term and possibly extending an invite to more local schools in the future.
The Rotary Club of Port Shepstone hosted another mind-bending General Knowledge Quiz and Spellathon Competition to mark the end of Term 1.
Various schools and Interact clubs were invited to take part in the junior (Grade 8-9) and senior (Grade 10-11) categories.
The quiz is an annual initiative of the club’s youth development committee to enhance learning and promote reading while testing the knowledge of learners in various categories and styles of questioning.
This year Port Shepstone Secondary’s brainiacs, Sonali Samdhan (Grade 9) and Ethan Naicker (Grade 11), walked away winners, bagging a cash prize and goodies sponsored by the club.
Youth Director and organiser of the event, Shamin Maharaj, congratulated all participants and was grateful to the educators of the schools/clubs who responded positively to their invitation.
“It is wonderful to see learners thinking out-of-the-box while enabling them to apply and challenge their minds while meeting new friends,” she said.
She thanked parents, Rotarians and Rotary Anns who attended to support.
Pastors Ashwin and Angeline Anirudhe provided a suitable venue at Eagles Church in Port Shepstone.
