Sports tournament unites small businesses
The tournament featured netball and soccer.
Aimed at driving collaboration and unity among small businesses, the Grudge Soccer Tournament and Business Day was recently held at the Margate Sport School.
One of the organisers, Alwande Mbatha, said Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) such as Bhungane Brothers, Awuzibuse General Trading, Gasela Protection Services and Siyaphambili Plant Hire and Civils participated on the day.
Mbatha said the tournament featured netball and soccer.
“In the fiercely contested netball games, the Bhungane Brothers’ women’s team emerged victorious, displaying skill and teamwork that left spectators in awe. However, it was the soccer tournament that stole the show. The showdown was between Bhungane Brothers and Siyaphambili Plant Hire and Civils in the finals. After a nail-biting match that ended in a thrilling draw, the teams headed into a penalty shootout. Siyaphambili Plant Hire and Civils won the game with a final score of 3 – 1,” he said.
Mbatha added: “The tournament showcased the competitive spirit of team members, and the business day aspect of it provided a platform for networking, collaboration, and forging new partnerships within the industry. Representatives from each company exchanged ideas, explored potential synergies, and discussed ways to collectively contribute to the growth and development of the local community.”
