MEC builds new home for Umzumbe family
Zilindile Dlamini said she did not have the words to describe how she felt about her new home.
It was a delightful day for Zilindile Dlamini when she moved into her new fully furnished house in Siphofu under Umzumbe Municipality.
The KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC, Rev Thulasizwe Buthelezi, handed over the house to the Dlamini family on Sunday.
The MEC was moved when he heard of the family’s plight during his recent visit to the area.
“The family was living in a damaged home that posed a danger to them. The fully furnished home ensures that the Dlamini family will no longer be vulnerable to the elements,” said the department.
Excited about her new home, Zilindile Dlamini said she was out of words.
“I am happy now. The house we lived in was leaking; it was worse during heavy rains because everyone had to collect the water that flooded the house. God bless the MEC of Cogta and all those who made this possible. I hope what they have done for my family, they could do it for others in need,” said Dlamini.
Buthelezi was accompanied by Umzumbe deputy mayor Mlungisi Ndlovu, member of parliament Inkosi Bhekiziwe Luthuli, and community members.
