Busy times at Southbroom
The course is soft and receptive after the plentiful summer rain.
The ladies’ alliance last Wednesday was won by Sandy FitzGerald, Arlene Bailey, Irene Schanda and Margaret Stoellinger on 76 points.
In second place were Augustine D’Ewes, Di Morris, Solange Fox and Lynne Blackstock on 74 points.
In the men’s alliance, the winners were F and A Stopforth, M and D Gaines, on 84 points.
Runners-up were Werner Duggan, Chris Solgevik, Jurgen Feeder and Peter Kupisiewicz on 83 points.
In third place on 81 points were Brian Blackstock, Gary Lig, Bob Clark and Gerald FitzGerald.
Sandy and Arlene were winners again last Saturday, teaming up with Louise Leal and Precious Mkhungo to win the alliance on 85 points.
Runners-up were Val Volck, Sharon Turnbull-Jackson, Jeanne Powell and Solange Fox on 81 points.
The men’s alliance saw Jack Moulder, Nicky Smith, Russel Mackenzie, and Phil Verwey win on 84 points, counting out Andries Brewis, Roger Hissey, Geoff Skelton and Bruce Begley, who in turn counted out Anton Kohrmann, Brian Jolliffe and Johan Wentzel.
