Vibrant wellness day motivates healthcare workers
Port Shepstone Regional Hospital said the wellness day aligned with the hospital’s broader strategy to reduce burnout, strengthen team bonds, and promote sustainable health practises.
Port Shepstone Regional Hospital’s wellness day united healthcare workers across the district in a vibrant celebration of health, fitness, and camaraderie.
It was held at the Marburg Sports Ground last Friday, where the hospital’s CEO, Zakanzima Mbethe, stressed prioritising mental and physical health in high-pressure healthcare environments.
“A healthy team delivers exceptional care, and we owe it to ourselves and our patients to thrive together,” he said.
Participants hailed not only from Port Shepstone Regional Hospital, but Gamalakhe Community Health Centre, Nursing Campus, Murchison Hospital and OR Tambo Community Health Centre.
Activities included a 90-minute aerobics session led by dynamic instructors, traditional games like Umlabalaba, and a egg and spoon race.
Also, competitive soccer and netball matches were part of the day.
Sister Debbie Rossow, the event’s programme director, kept the momentum high with her infectious energy.
“Wellness is a journey, not a destination. Today, we’re taking a joyful step forward together,” she said.
The day aligned with the hospital’s broader strategy to reduce burnout, strengthen team bonds, and promote sustainable health practises.
As a leading healthcare provider in the Ugu District, the hospital is committed to excellence in patient care and staff well-being.
Through initiatives like the wellness day, the institution aims to cultivate a resilient, motivated workforce capable of delivering outstanding service to the community.
