Sports tournament celebrates Youth Day
The finals of the soccer tournament had to be postponed due to the time, and the lights at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre not being fully functional.
Esayidi TVET Gamalakhe Campus was the winner of the Youth Day Soccer and Netball Tournament organised by the Makhulukhulu Sports Academy.
The tournament held at the Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre on June 16, featured netball and soccer matches.
According to the academy’s Tino Ndwalane, Sheppy Central placed second in the netball tournament, while Sesifikile came third.
Ndwalane said the finals of the soccer tournament had to be postponed due to the time and the lights not being fully functional at the centre.
“A date for the finals will be announced as there are soccer tournaments scheduled to take place at Ugu Sports and Leisure Centre in the next two weeks,” he said.
He added that the teams in the finals are Seven Stars and Gamalakhe Campus.
Meanwhile, Mpume Mbono of the Makhulukhulu Sports Academy said they are grateful to the teams that participated in their successful tournament.
Mbono said the players’ dedication and sportsmanship made the event truly memorable.
