Cricket league under way with 30-over cup

Hopefully the weather will play the game this season.

The Southern KZN 30-Over Cup got off to a smashing and, in some cases stuttering, start last Sunday.

Morné Bishop set the tone with an astonishing 193 not out for the star-studded Port Shepstone Country Club team against ICC XI.

He opened the batting and reached 99 off 80 balls, and then made a further 94 runs off the next 24 balls he faced. His strike rate was 185.6 which was a touch higher than Ashley Lombard’s, who made 37 off 20 for a strike rate of 185.

Theo Goldstone, playing for Mustangs in Division 3, belted the ball to all parts for 88 against PayRite. He was assisted by an excellent all-round performance with bat and ball from Ashtin Wilson.

These were some of the highlights on a weekend which saw some matches rained out and others rescheduled.
