Success for young karateka

His friends and supports are proud of his achievement and look forward to seeing his continued progress in future competitions.

A young athlete training at the Genesis Community Gym recently celebrated a major achievement after winning first place at a karate tournament held in Zululand.

Phumlani Msomi competed in the KZN Provincial Junior Karate tournament, held at Ulundi multi-purpose hall, against athletes from several areas, including Gamalakhe, Mtwalume and Gcilima.

During the competition he fought in 10 matches, demonstrating determination and discipline throughout the event.

At the end of the tournament, Msomi secured first place, marking a significant milestone in his karate journey.

Although karate is his primary sport, Msomi regularly trains at the Genesis Community Gym to build strength and improve his overall conditioning.

Gym managers say supporting athletes from different sporting backgrounds is an important part of the gym’s role within the community.

“By providing a safe and supportive training environment, the gym aims to encourage young people to pursue healthy lifestyles while developing discipline, confidence and perseverance through sport,” said Wanda Mvundla, manager at Genesis Gym.

His friends and supports are proud of his achievement and look forward to seeing his continued progress in future competitions.
