SOUTH Coast skateboarders had an eventful time when the South Coast Winter Slam took place at Youthworx in Shelly Beach last Saturday.
The day kicked off well with some very competitive riding from all the skaters.
As round one started it was obvious that there were a lot of nervous competitors. But as the day progressed, so did the riders, who developed in confidence.
After round one the Monster Energy Drink team performed a demo, showing the crowd some really unbelievable skating.
After the demo there was a best trick event where all contestants competed for a skateboard.
This was won by Murray Sharp, doing a massive backflip on the eight foot halfpipe.
In round two, the riders started to push the limits in an effort to top up their scores to obtain the top three spots.
The lucky bonus draw was awarded to Lindelwe Myeza, who won himself a longboard cruiser.
The sponsors were thanked for their contributions, in particular Monster Energy Drinks and Rip Curl Ocean Sports.
“I would like to thank all the people who came to support this event and let’s hope skateboarding can grow from here,” said organiser Brendon van Rooyen.
