John in top form

JOHN Pritchard won the competition at Port Shepstone Country Club last Wednesday on 43 points, from Daan Swanepoel who had 41 points.

In third place on 39 points were Charles Mostert and Gerald Koch.

Saturday’s competition saw Phil Viljoen and Brett Pollington clean up on +10, counting out Mark Smith and John Pritchard, as well as Doug Shepherd and Abel Yeeranna.

Ian and Debi Stewart were next on +9.

The club’s Restoration Trophy takes place this Friday and Saturday and there has been a fantastic response.

Knockout golf at Margate

MARGATE women played the first round of the Molly Schierhout Knockout Trophy last Tuesday.

Best of the women not playing in the knockout were Shannon Gottlieb on 36 points and Rene Paton on 35 points.

The Wobblers’ alliance was won by Dave Parsons, Andre du Plessis and Gert Bezuidenhout on 94 points, with Eddie Farren, Thys Bothma and Hanz Dallinger on 93 points. In third place on 91 points were Dave Boyd, Andy Buchan and Piet Pretorius.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Keith Duncalf, Frank Merrill and Ernie Kuttner on 79 points.

The Thursday competition saw Kenny Wienand blitz the field with 46 points, seven clear of Mike Bond and Fanie Terblanche. John Ford was fourth on 38 points.

Nearest the pin on the 16th, sponsored by Hibiscus Retirement Villages, was Alan Davies.

The competition on Saturday saw Ken Ashington and Dawie de Villiers grab first prize on 50 points, with Graham Scowby and Brian Jolliffe tying for second on 49 points with Patrick Mavundla and Koko Zithumane.

Nearest the pin on the 16th was Piet Lombard.

The mixed competition on Sunday saw players competing for the Vryan Adams Trophy. It was won by Cyril Greensmith and Corinne Letzler on 47 points, with Colin and Beryl Williamson next on 45 points, counting out Thys and Wondra Bothma.

Captain’s Revenge at Southbroom

THE Saturday competition at Southbroom was won by Chris Miller, Arthur Lee, Rob Meydell and Vic Pretorius on 118 points, counting out Gordon Moody, Kerry Fielden, Joe Carolan and Jonathan Shaw. In third place on 115 points were Dudley Simmonds, George Wright, Olliver Ransome and Graham Taylor.

In the women’s section the competition was won by Jeanette Peyios, Eileen Neilson, Rene Matthew and Lorraine Cook on 120 points, from Lan Yeadon, Margie Sherratt, Sandy Luus and ‘ghost’ on 112 points.

The women’s open day alliance last Thursday was called Captain’s Revenge and was won by Jeaneatte Peyios, Anne Baldrey, Mogi Moodley and Fay Patterson from Janet Humphrey, Barbra Rousseau, Yzelle Greyling and Joan Harrison, who tied with Liz Meyer, Rino Rito, Jan Germs and ‘ghost’.

Dave Neilson won last Wednesday’s competition on nett 68, two ahead of George Wright and three ahead of Dave Page.

Gordon Moody won the Stableford on 44 points, two ahead of Doug Butcher. John Scott and Brian Brasher both had 39 points.

The women played for the Cora Hicks (winter) trophy. It was won by Jeanne Powell on nett 70. In second place were Mari Fielden and Ruth Mosburger on nett 74, followed by Eileen Neilson on nett 76.
