Golf trophy restored to the South Coast

The tournament has made a welcome return after more than a decade.

THE Restoration Trophy tournament returned to the Port Shepstone Country Club after last being played in 1999. The competition kicked off last Friday with an alliance and concluded with a betterball Stableford on Saturday. This tournament dates back to 1959, when it was first held after the course and clubhouse had been struck by heavy floods.

Entry was free as the tournament was a ‘thank you’ to all those people who were involved in assisting with the repairs of the Port Shepstone Country Club. Visiting golfers from Margate, Southbroom, Kokstad, Harding, Ixopo and Umhlali converged at the club this past weekend to take part in this prestigious event.
